IES launches ASHRAE 90.1 navigator
Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software and consulting services for sustainable building design, today launched an exciting, advanced LEED Energy Modeling tool. click here for details.
Advertising space available if you have any case studies using the VE.
Pete Murray, the founder, is a former employee of IES Ltd. Pete is now working as a authorized reseller, providing solutions for the world-leading sustainable design software - the IES <Virtual Environment>.
Working for IES as a consultant allowed Pete to improve efficiency levels and energy consumption in buildings - the largest consumer of energy and producer of carbon emissions. In the drive to sustain our environment, Pete works tirelessly to find other means to allow future generations to live in a clean, healthy environment. He is still passionate about all aspects of environmental protection including recycling, plastic bag bans, sustainable transportation and education. He is currently working as a volunteer ranger to maintain his local section of cycle route - a 10 mile vehicle free path to allow cyclists to travel between towns and cities in no danger. He is also campaigning to have a tax imposed on plastic bags in Scotland and the rest of the UK, which will hopefully ripple through to other countries. More about these elements in the blog.
With almost 9 years experience using the <VE> suite, 3 years in the UK and nearly 6 years in the US, we can provide sales advice on the modules or packages best suited to your needs, training either on the web or in house and support to get you up and running as soon as possible.
About Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, IES also has offices in Boston MA, San Francisco CA, Dublin Ireland, London England, Melbourne Australia and Dubai UAE. IES has extensive experience in the development and use of advanced building simulation software tools and voluntary building performance rating systems such as LEED in the design process and have provided consulting on some of the largest and innovative projects in different parts of the world.
DEMOS
We can conduct demos using web conferencing software, to show you the features of the <VE> tiers and determine the best bespoke solution for your company requirements. Please email to arrange.
TRAINING
We can also provide training solutions, again using web conferencing software or in house for face-to-face training. Again, please email for more details. Training can be done in either Metric or IP units.
SUPPORT
We will provide support, where necessary, to help you transition to the new software or we can direct you to additional resources at IES Ltd, either an IES support representative or a specific IES <VE> forum.
CONSULTING
IES can provide consulting work on jobs you may not have the time, the resources or the experience to undertake. The consulting team has global experience and projects such as Walmart, Heathrow T5 and MGM City Center under its belt. Contact me for more details.
Regardless of what you are looking for, the structure of the IES <VE> suite of tools can cater to your needs. Its 4 tier approach contains different levels of software, allowing for the full spectrum of analysis capability and input and output requirements.
VE Ware - FREE software allowing the user to gauge some simple early stage energy analysis scenarios using a SketchUp model or Revit file.
VE Toolkits - Same SketchUp or Revit file, but this time more analysis capability with the likes of solar shading, daylighting, water use as well some elements of the LEED rating system.
VE Gaia - Stepping a bit deeper into analysis, but now more control over the inputs - the ability to customise contructions, internal load data and profiles, as well as more insight into the driving forces with additional detail and richness to the output content and imagery. The is also a dedicated PRM navigator using ASHRAE 90.1 methodology.
VE Pro - The ultimate level of input data, breadth of analysis capability and richness of output, the modular structure of VE Pro and its integrated approach to building performance means you are able to use the same model from the early stages but refine and delve much deeper into it's design, investigating elements from simple envelope studies to optimum diffuser locations or daylight harvesting.
For pricing information, please contact us by email. Click on any of the tiers for more information and images from each level.

Transportation
Company policy is to either cycle or use public transport. Buses in the local area are run on bio diesel. Demos and training are done from home using web conferencing software.
Office
The office is stocked with CFLs, has double glazed windows and an efficient boiler. Lights and equipment are switched off when not in use. Nothing is printed out unless its absolutely necessary and when that happens, it's printed on 100% recycled paper.
Recycling
Everything that can be recycled is recycled - cans, bottles, plastic, paper, electronics. Anything that is not suitable for recycling like paint is taken to be carefully disposed of.
Plastic bags are never used - reusable bags are taken everywhere to carry shopping, gym stuff, football gear etc.
Equipment
Laptops are used for work which is much less energy consuming than a desktop alternative. The printer is very rarely on.
Education
We try to educate others on the importance of these aspects of life through websites, emails, blogs, newspaper articles etc.
ECO THOUGHTS
Do you really need to print out any emails or documents?
How could you or your company cut down on paper use?
"Every year, more than 1.1 billion trees are cut down in order to satisfy the needs of office workers around the world.
This pulp and paper industry represents around 10% of all global emissions.
Reducing worldwide paper usage by 10% would save over 100 million trees, 100 million metric tons of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and a staggering $3.5 billion in paper costs."
